Managing Stress

Initial Telephone Consultation

Your first point of contact, which is free. The purpose of this is to explore the causes of your stress, find out what you are currently doing to try to manage it and to establish if I can be of help. If we are both convinced that I can help, then we will arrange to meet.

Consultation

In a non-clinical setting, usually over a coffee, your consultation is a relaxed, informal exploration and analysis of your issues. Based on what you say, I will lay out options, with pros and cons and may make recommendations, but you decide what rings true and what make sense for you - everyone is different. Crucially, you must also be prepared to do something different – stress cannot just be wished away. Advice may be as simple as different ways of looking at sources of stress, recommending sources of further information, like websites or buying a book, or it may include relaxation training, psychological therapies or referral to a different specialist. This may be enough to get you going, so we do not need to meet again or, if you think it will be useful, we may arrange a follow up – whatever you decide.
